BRIEF
Design a compelling lobby poster for partner theater distributors to communicate the unique advantages of the IMAX experience over competing premium formats. The goal was to translate complex technical specifications such as projection, sound, and theatre geometry into digestible, visually impactful graphics that educate and convert moviegoers in high-traffic areas.

STRATEGY
The approach utilized a premium, dark aesthetic accented by IMAX’s signature electric blue to evoke cinematic immersion. Complex technical differentiators were distilled into sleek, futuristic infographics and diagrams. The visual hierarchy heavily emphasized “The IMAX Difference,” positioning the format not just as a bigger screen, but as the superior, unmissable cinematic choice.

BRIEF
Design the key art and theatrical one-sheet for My Name Is Sara, a feature film based on the true story of a young Jewish girl hiding in plain sight in Nazi-occupied Poland. The objective was to create a hauntingly beautiful visual identity that emphasizes the protagonist’s vulnerability and strength, enticing a global cinema audience while honoring the historical weight of the narrative.

STRATEGY
I utilized high-fidelity photo illustration and compositing to create a focal point on Sara’s intense, watchful gaze—a literal representation of the film’s themes of visibility and survival. As seen in the concept sketches, my process involved extensive stylistic iteration, ranging from folk-art-inspired motifs and brooding forest landscapes to stark, high-contrast portraiture. This allowed me to test various emotional beats—fear, isolation, and defiance—before landing on the final “big head” composition that creates an immediate, visceral connection between the viewer and the protagonist.

BRIEF
Develop the key art and promotional one-sheet for the documentary Liberation Heroes: The Last Eyewitnesses. The objective was to create a definitive visual identity that honors the gravity of WWII history while capturing the profound emotional weight of the veterans’ firsthand testimonies for a modern audience.

STRATEGY
I utilized emotive photo compositing and atmospheric finishing to bridge the gap between archival history and cinematic storytelling. My process involved exploring a diverse range of conceptual directions, from stark, high-contrast silhouettes and collage-based “war room” aesthetics to intimate close-ups. This iterative approach ensured the final design—centered on the poignant “witness” of a veteran—delivered maximum emotional impact and historical authority.

BRIEF
North East Productions needed key art for Devin Boss’s documentary series exploring Black displacement and gentrification in Portland. The challenge was
to visually represent the city’s evolving identity, balancing the heavy history of
loss with a hopeful narrative about Black entrepreneurs and the future possibilities of “place”.

STRATEGY
I centered the design around a “lens” looking into the city, framed by a grid of powerful affirmations like “Stories Become Sanctuaries.” This typographic structure visually rebuilds the narrative of Portland, moving away from displacement and toward a celebration of Black resilience and the specific “power of place”.

BRIEF
Design a series of high-impact social media assets for The Criterion Collection to announce the Blu-ray and digital releases of iconic films like Midnight Cowboy and Paris, Texas. The goal was to create thumb-stopping digital content that honors the cinematic legacy of each title while driving engagement across Facebook and Instagram.

STRATEGY
I employed a bespoke design approach for each title, using custom illustration, photo compositing, and expressive typography to capture the specific “soul” of the film. By blending modern digital finishing techniques with the grain and texture of classic cinema, I ensured the posts felt like premium extensions of Criterion’s physical packaging, appealing to both die-hard cinephiles and new audiences.

BRIEF
Develop the theatrical key art and promotional one-sheet for the 2014 production of The Trip to Bountiful at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. The objective was to create a commanding visual identity featuring star Blair Underwood that honors the play’s themes of nostalgia, home, and the human spirit, while driving ticket sales for a high-profile theatrical run.

STRATEGY
I utilized high-impact photo illustration and finishing to create a somber, cinematic portrait that emphasizes the protagonist’s emotional journey. By pairing a sepia-toned, atmospheric character shot with bold, contemporary typography featuring a vibrant yellow-to-green gradient, I bridged the gap between the play’s mid-century setting and a modern theatrical aesthetic. The composition uses a low-angle perspective to lend the character a sense of quiet nobility, ensuring the poster stands out in the competitive Los Angeles arts and culture landscape.

BRIEF
Design the official tour poster and promotional key art for independent recording artist Luke Temple to support his 2007 release, Snowbeast. The objective was to create a visually poetic announcement that reflects the album’s title and atmospheric sound, generating intrigue and engagement within the indie music community.

STRATEGY
I utilized heavy grain textures and a cool-toned monochromatic palette to evoke the titular “Snowbeast” concept, transforming a standard artist portrait into something more mysterious and elemental. By layering a frost-like digital finish over the photography and pairing it with a delicate, hand-styled typographic treatment, I established a wintry, “lo-fi” aesthetic. This approach ensured the poster felt like a piece of art rather than a traditional advertisement, resonating with the artist’s core demographic of discerning, art-focused listeners.
